Labor Day

Hey look at this, second consecutive post in two days. Huh, what gives.

Anyway, down to business.......

Labor Day. The first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. Here’s to America's workers!

I would like to point out specifically in the above description of Labor Day, "dedicated to the economic achievements of American workers.". Since when? If this is true and there is just one ounce of accountability in this country then this holiday should be cancelled or at least considered a farce.

It's been a while

Yes it has been a while since my last post. No surprise to me since I knew this was a bit off track for me. But to my own defense I have been thinking about posting thoughts etc.

One idea I have decided on is to be a bit shorter. This may prompt more frequent posts.

More to follow.

Cheers.

Some thoughts on the holiday

Well, we all survived another holiday...of sorts. Yes, Mother's day.

Ok, be forewarned I am feeling a bit cynical this morning. I had a fun weekend so I'm not sure where this is coming from. Also, this is in no way directed to anyone in particular it is more a general download. Peeps can sometimes get a little bent on blogs, emails, and texts these days as it is difficult to understand the context and emotion, so we naturally fill it in as we read and that sometimes leads down the wrong path. My pedestrian writing style seems to exacerbate this in people, and rightfully so. Pardon me in advance.

Anyway, Mother's day has passed and what a day it was/is. I remember as a child when this day would come around and I never seemed to be prepared and sometimes felt as though I could have done more or better, it seems so forced. As I am learning, my Mother deserved a hearty thank you given all the antics I pulled and the trouble I caused and hard work that was required to raise 4 children especially with a husband that traveled.

OK, back to the actual holiday. The next one of it's ilk is Father's day. It is coming up and I have not idea when. This is what got me thinking about the former and to jot down my thoughts. And here they are, So What. Really.
The last thing I want is for others to feel that they have to do something for me. If it is something out of the ordinary then it is an imposition and therefore is counter to what really makes me happy, assuming that is the intended outcome of a Father's day effort.
What makes me happy is for others, family & friends, to be happy. If your daily interactions with me are not of this nature than one day a year to do something that is not natural is a waste of everyone's time.
If you are over the age of 12 don't put yourself through the Hallmark manufactured protocols. Save a tree and don't buy a card. Gifts are not necessary. Something like a standard phone call is nice just to catch up, or maybe some tics to the F1 race in Montreal or a trip to Aruba with the well deserved Mother of my three children, nothing big ;-]

To close it out, I feel that people should not be put on a pedestal at the sacrifice of those involved invaluable time and expense. It is a simple debit and credit scenario.

BTW, I still plan on getting up early, making breakfast for the kids, changing diapers, and the usual rigmarole on Father's day.

Go Bruins!!!

Opening remarks

Huh, a blog. Who would have thought I would do this...I guess it is a matter of me actually posting on a somewhat regular basis. Only then will be of any use or benefit to me. I couldn't presume this would be of any particular interest to others. So what's the point? (I ask myself). Potentially a decent outlet. One that may provide me with some responses from family/friends? Who knows. I would bet that I am more apt to stick my foot in my mouth or mention tidbits that I should have just kept to myself. But we'll, I'll have to see.

Anyway I probably owe this little venture to Roo and Sean. They are an inspiration in many ways. Thanks guys. Don't be disappointed if this get stale quick.

Cheers
